Classic Iron & Modern Single-Cylinders: A Day with the CRMC at Brands Hatch
There is nothing quite like the paddock atmosphere at a classic race meeting, and the Classic Racing Motorcycle Club (CRMC) event at Brands Hatch is no exception.
The sheer variety and quality of the machines on display was extraordinary. We're talking beautifully restored vintage iron, and let's be clear, the riders are definitely not shy about using them exactly as intended! The sounds and smells, specifically the unmistakable scent of Castrol R, as these classic engines raced around the Indy circuit never fails to impress.
A personal highlight of the day was the chance to say a quick hello to Mike 'Spike' Edwards, who was racing an absolutely immaculate #121 Kramer Supermono. It was fantastic to see Mike right at the front, pushing hard for a win rather than just a podium. However, things got chaotic when the leaders caught up with the backmarkers; for a moment, the track honestly looked busier than the M25! Unfortunately, navigating that traffic jam was just enough to spoil Mike's chances of taking the win, but it made for an incredibly thrilling race to watch.
