Touring North West Spain

Took off for a couple of weeks on the bike to explore North Western Spain. Trip started with an excellent weekend, stopping over with friends in Normandy, before heading south through France and into Northern Spain. Once we passed Santander we left the high speed autoroutes behind and slowed the pace down as we headed inland to meander through the Picos de Europa. A fews days later we rejoined the coast and spent the next couple of days travelling westward towards Ferrol. After an explore around the historic city, we headed off towards Pontvedra, South West Galicia, to spend a week in a beautifully restored house with a small group of biking foodie friends and enjoying days out to explore the region.

Ferrol, once home to the worlds largest navy and steeped in history, has seen difficult times in recent years, but things are changing and the city is working hard to recover. This Barrio is slowly regenerating and street art is helping to inspire and create interest.
