A couple of weeks in the heart of Tuscany allowed us a taste of the culture, history, cuisine and fine wines. Tuscany also has more than its fair share of fabulous roads to ride.
We based ourselves at Casa di Paolo's beautiful old farm house, taking some time to explore locally on foot through the fields of olive tree's and vines, enjoying the occasional chill by the pool. Paolo was most helpful with recommendations of local restaurants and cooked us a fabulous meal one evening. There's also a wonderful honesty bar for proper coffee in the morning and nice local wines and beers in the evening! From here we ventured further south for a couple of nights of fine wines and dining at Villa Granzianella.
Tuscany has left us with some wonderful memories.

Rather than ride around Florence, I decided to ride through the middle and enjoy a quick stop on the Piazza Michelangelo and enjoy the view

mostly we took advantage of it's refreshing powers at the end of the day!

Dramatic evening skies too!

Eventually our time at Casa d'Paolo's came to an end and we had to leave!
Moving further south, we visited the walled hill top town of Montalcino; Bagno Vignoni, a small village famous for its natural hot springs and spa's; rode through the postcard Val d'Orcia before arriving at our final destination Villa Grazianella and the wine estate of Fattoria Del Cerro (Farmhouse on the Hill) for a week of amazing food and wine.

Leaving Paolo's to head south.

Our second and last night - well, a light meal (not) with more amazing wines!

more amazing wines from the Fattoria Del Cerro estate!

Time to head home!

As we closed in on the Alps the rains arrived! The RT is brilliant for keeping most of the rain off, but only if you can keep moving, so we got into our waterproofs and just pushed on! We passed through alps via the Frejus Tunnel and rolled into Lyon for a late supper and hotel.

Lyon - Seeing the sun on Saturday morning was nice, but the forecast was for more Rain on Sunday, so home bound we were!

We made Bethune in Northern France in good time....

.... so rewarded ourselves with a final holiday toast to a cracking trip!
